Locate your 13-digit Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number. It is printed on your CNIC card and starts with your province code. You need all 13 digits without any dashes or spaces.

The number 8171 refers to both the official SMS shortcode and the web portal address for BISP eligibility checks. When you send your CNIC to 8171 via SMS or visit 8171.bisp.gov.pk, you are accessing the same government database managed by NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) and BISP.
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is Pakistan's largest social protection initiative, providing financial assistance to over 9.3 million low-income families across all four provinces. Established in 2008, BISP currently provides a quarterly cash stipend of Rs. 14,500 to eligible women from low-income households through the Benazir Kafalat program.
Priority is given to female-headed households, widows, divorced women, and families living below the poverty line as determined by the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey.
